7 baby wash products parents say won’t irritate the skin
When choosing a baby wash, parents want to be sure of one thing: that it doesn’t irritate the skin.
After all, babies have delicate skin, and the wrong type (soap-based products), can lead to a range of skin problems, like eczema.
The Tell Me Baby community has rated the baby wash products they’ve tried and shared their opinions on what has, or hasn’t, worked for them.
Based on baby wash reviews, we’ve put together a list of the top seven baby wash products our community loves that leave skin feeling soft (and smelling nice too). You can also take a look at our baby wash comparisons to find out the most rated products.
1. BabyU Goat Milk Body Wash
The TMB community not only love BabyU Goat Milk Body Wash because it’s gentle on skin, they’re also big fans because it’s Australian made and owned. Suitable for sensitive skin, BabyU is made from pure goat’s milk and nourishing ingredients such as oatmeal extract to cleanse delicate skin gently.
One mum said in her review: “For this price, it’s the best you can get. It’s like milk pudding for the skin. My daughter absolutely loves it, and it smells heavenly.”
2. MooGoo Natural Mini Moo Bubbly Wash
A gentle wash that makes bath time fun, MooGoo Natural Mini Moo Bubbly Wash comes highly recommended by parents. Made with coconut and glucose-based cleansers and free from synthetic detergents, parents said the bubbles don’t dry out their baby’s skin.
One reviewer wrote: “I have used this wash since my baby’s very first bath – it smells great and is very gentle on all skin types. Great value for money, this 500mL bottle lasts me about 6 months. Love that…”
3. GAIA Natural Baby Bath & Body Wash
A popular choice for TMB parents, GAIA Natural Baby Bath & Body Wash is soap and sulphate free, so won’t irritate your baby’s skin. This product also contains added organic plant oils for extra moisture.

4. Cetaphil Baby Ultra Moisturising Bath & Wash
A soft and gentle product perfect for baby skin. Cetaphil Baby Ultra Moisturising Bath & Wash contains aloe vera and almond oil, which parents say is gentle and smells nice.
One TMB reviewer wrote: “We still use this and my daughter is 1. It foams up beautifully and has a gentle smell that’s nice but not too strong. It’s gentle on bubs skin, and she loves playing with the suds it makes!”
5. Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo
Recommended by TMB parents, Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo blends natural oat extract into a rich, lathering, soap-free cleanser that won’t dry out the skin. Some parents say they struggled with the lather, but liked the smell and agreed that it was gentle on skin.
One parent wrote: “The body wash is good with light and pleasant fragrance. It has a bit higher amount of glycerin I think. But my baby likes it.”
6. Ecostore Baby Body Wash
A mild alternative to soap, Ecostore Baby Body Wash is free from nasty chemicals. Parents say it smells nice and is lovely on their baby’s skin.
One reviewer said: “A great product for baby, all-natural, you don’t need to use much of it, so it goes a long way, smells great and doesn’t dry out my son’s skin. I use it every day on my son and am very happy with it and will continue to use it.”
7. Milk & Co Baby Bath Wash
Highly recommended by TMB parents, Milk & Co Baby Bath Wash is made with organic coconut oil, vanilla and chamomile, so it’s not surprising the smell is a hot topic in the reviews. The natural ingredients mean skin is left feeling super soft too. The only downside is that it’s a little pricey, but many said that wouldn’t stop them from buying this product again.
“With organic coconut oil, this leaves your bub smelling better than you do. This is one of my favourite brands to use for bath time with my little one,” wrote one reviewer.
